Escarole Lettuce

It's often confused with lettuce because of its appearance, but escarole has a slightly bitter taste and crunchy leaves. Escarole has a slightly bitter taste with a nutty flavor and a balance of sweet and bitter. The outer leaves are darker and more bitter, while the inner leaves are lighter and more tender. Escarole can be eaten raw or cooked. You can balance out the bitter taste by cooking it, or by sprinkling it with lemon juice or vinegar. Grown using organic practices.
